Remembrance

On December 21st 1988, 270 victims lost their lives due to a terrorist attack on Pan Am Flight 103. 35 of those victims were Syracuse University study abroad students. Of those 35 students was my mom’s best friend, Miriam Luby Wolfe. My family continues to honor and remember Miriam and all the victims with all our hearts. My sister had the honor of representing Miriam as a Remembrance Scholar in 2016. I have dedicated myself to photographing Remembrance Week every year as a student, a week at Syracuse University dedicated to the victims of Pan Am Flight 103.

My senior year, I had the incredible honor of also representing Miriam just as my sister had. Miriam was an effervescent soul. My mother loves to recount how Miriam didn’t just walk everywhere, she bounced with her beautiful hair and infectious joy. Miriam was a friend to all - friends and strangers alike - and had deep passions for writing, acting, singing, activism, and much more. My mother says the best way to act forward in Miriam’s memory is to spread kindness and joy just as she always did. Miriam, I feel so incredibly blessed to have gotten to know you through others and my time as a Remembrance Scholar, and I am so excited to share the rest of my life with you and think of you in all that I do.

My story I wrote for Remembrance Week 2021-22
